Here’s his race recap:

I ended up starting towards the back of the pack at the line and was surprised how quickly the guys up front started opening the race up so I had to wait until after the first turn to try and move up in the pack.  I had to basically sprint hard to get up with the top 10-12 guys.  We then felt out the 1st couple of laps and then they had a “premium lap” of whatever to win a prize so the end of that lap broke things up and a group sort of broke away from the main pack.  I didn’t try for the premium lap so I had to close the gap by myself and I took another guy with me.  That was pretty much the race… I tried to just stay with the front guys and tried to do as little work as possible.  I lead the group for a lap but quickly slowed down as to not kill myself.  The last lap it was down to just 4 of us and after the last real turn (U-Turn) I launched an attack to see if anyone could go with me – I made a quick glance back and saw a couple guys grabbed my wheel so just as we are entering the straight away (in nasty headwind) I let off the gas to let someone else take the lead – then I moved out to the side and launched my sprint so no one could get my wheel and held on for the win.  It all happened so fast and I couldn’t believe I won.
