| Deja Vu all over again on Sunday at
Tour de Champaign. Dan went off the front again. Teammates Kevin and Chris blocked, same
10 year old kid bridged up to Dan and the two fought it out for the win.
Dan's account: "There was a bigger field and it was a stronger
field as well. I was on again. Funny how quickly your form can change from feeling like
complete s*** at Proctor to being on top 2 weeks later. There was not a 1/4 of a lap where
there wasn't someone attacking or off the front on Sunday. Sprock put in an early dig, got
pulled back. I put in an attack, got a big gap, soloed for 2 laps got pulled back. I
pulled back multiple breaks that I knew would get away. I realized early on it was going
to be halfway into the race before something got away. 35 min in I attacked for a prime. I
got a big 15 second gap and was off for a lap and a half by myself. The same verizon kid
bridged up to me then and we got to work right away. It took us a while to break the
leash. We sat at 15 seconds for a long time and then finally got out of sight. I was
completely smoked with 3 to go. I tried a dig with half a lap to go, but just couldn't get
away.
He was on my wheel into the sprint and took it. I think we beat the
pack in by 40 seconds or so.
Very happy to be feeling good again. My legs are a little sore, but
that is to be expected."
Dan has been threatening a big result for a while now and unleashed
it this weekend. Zink and Dan are now conflated, in cat 3 eyes, into the same OTF animal
who cannot be chased down. Not only did Dan go from a 5 to a 3 in six months, he has also
made his mark on the Cat 3 podium within 12 months of first turning a pedal in anger for
Proctor. Congrats to Dan and his Proctor teammates on some great results!

| Big shout to all the Proctor Cat 3s
today who controlled the race and set their guy up for the podium.
Roll of Honor: Ryan Bertrand, Dan Damotte, Kevin Lantz, Chris
Sprock, Brian Zink
Dan got away early in a two man break. All the guys turned
themselves inside out to get to the front and control the pack. The Zinkotron put in a
bunch of false attacks to zap the legs of the other teams, Kevin marshalled the pack,
Chris and Ryan pulled and blocked like crazy men and they all engineered it so that Dan,
who was on a no-chain day, and his breakaway partner lapped the field.
They then buried themselves to get Dan through the pack to the front
and in good position for the last couple of laps. Not sure exactly what happened, but
there was some confusion at the end concerning notification of the last lap and both of
the two lapping riders were still gearing up for the sprint when they found that the race
was over. Dan was super-strong today and full credit to his Proctor teammates who
sacrificed their own chances to get their teammate onto the podium.

Snake Alley-
Weather was Cool and drizzly for the Snake Alley criterium. Chris and Ryan started in the
back row, Colm a nice front row start. Race went as usual hammer the hills and try to stay
up on the descents. For the CAT 3 race Aaron had a second row start position, he stayed
with the top 8 until the last four laps. Rain for the CAT 3 race had made the descents
really slick.

Melon City- This
course was a mini snake alley, a good size hill about a 45 second climb right before the
start/finish, but this course had a nice surprise on the descent. A speed bump which sent
riders into the air at 35 mph, craziest course I have ever ridden. Surprisingly no crashes
in the 4's race. This course also had a radar gun at the finish where we could see average
lap speeds of 28 mph.

Quad Cities Criterium-
Flat and fast, downtown Moline similar course to Proctor Crit. Tons of spectators, the
city really goes all out for this race. Cat 3 race had some rain, there was a break away
of 3 riders, 2 of the break continued to stay out and finished 1 and 2. On the last lap
Aaron McCombs was almost taken out by a rider cutting the corner. Aaron stayed up
right and sprinted for the finish with the pack and the rest of the Proctor team. Cat 4
race, Chris Sprock went off the front with 4 to go. 3 juniors bridged they sprinted to the
finish together, with Chris taking 2nd. |

Women's Open, Vanessa went on a
solo break for 30+ minutes only to be caught in the last 5 minutes. She recovered and
challenged for an impressive second place finish.
Masters 40+, Greg held a strong position in the front of the peloton, taking 2nd in the
sprint
Cat 4/5, Ryan avoided crashing, but started the sprint a little too early taking 3rd
Cat 4, Chris Sprock rode in the front of the pack, taking a few solo breaks while Ryan
tried to recover from the 4/5 race. Chris sprinted strong for a 5th place finish.
Cat3, Brian Zink went on a 2 man break 25 minutes into a 55minute race. Then Brian
continued solo for 30 minutes holding a 25 second gap on the peloton and taking 1st place.
Words can't explain how hard Brain had to push to maintain a gap. Aaron McCombs and Chris
Barton blocked with Aaron taking 9th into the pack sprint.
TT-A wicked wind with 30+ MPH gust made half of down and back TT course a grueling effort.
Disk wheels were probably not preferred if you were real confident on your TT bike.
Circuit Race- Weather, once again very windy same 20+ mph gusts of wind as the day before.
Women's Open, Vanessa took revenge this day winning the pack sprint..
Masters 40+, Greg finished strong in the pack sprint
Cat 4/5, 1st place guy broke early 400 meters before the finish, Ryan chased for a second
place.
Cat 4. Chris Sprock challenged the pack with some attempts at a break away, nothing stuck.
Chris won a prime with 4 laps to go, recovered and placed himself at the front pack for
the sprint finish.
Cat 3, Brian was now a marked target getting a race callout by the announcer. Today Aaron
McCombs to in a break with 8 guys only to be reeled in with 6 laps to go. Then Brian went
off the front again with another rider only to find out 2 got away before them. Brian
stretching his legs dropped the guy he was working with and bridged the gap reeling in the
front 2 with 3 laps to go. On the last lap they repeatedly attacked Brian, forcing him to
go solo early with the other two riders taking advantage of the situation and taking him
in the sprint. Brian finished with well deserved 3rd place. But the excitement didn't end
there, Bohm and Barton took Aaron to the front of the pack on the last lap to get him into
his 6th place finish. |

Congrats the Proctor guys that raced last weekend. Nice
Podium finish's!!
Tour of Herman, the crit course was similar to snake alley without the curves. There
was a granny gear hill taking about 50 seconds to climb if you were in the Men's CAT 3
race, followed by a 40 MPH downhill. Course length 1.2 miles. A must do for
2010!!
